1.     What is software? Name its type.

Ans-A set of instructions given to the computer to perform a particular task is called a computer program. A collection of computer programs are called  software. There are two types of software: System software and Application software.

2.     What is the difference between a System software and an application software?

Ans-

1)The system software is required to control the overall operation of computer system. Without it a computer cannot work. So the system software is like a manager of a computer system.   2) It can be classified in three categories. 1. Operating system--Windows 7, Windows 10, MS DOS 2. Language processor—Compiler, interpreter 3. Utility software--Disk cleanup, antivirus software	1) Application software is a setoff programs designed to help the users to perform specific tasks. They may be installed in a computer depending upon the user's requirement.   2) Application software can be further be divided into two parts- 1.General Purpose Application Software—word, excel, coral draw 2. Specific application software --Banking software, Reservation system at railways

3.     What is the use of an Operating system?

Ans-An operating system (OS) is system software. It is an interface  between the

user and the hardware and enables them to work together. Operating system prepares the computer for you to work and run application software. Windows 7, Windows 10, MS DOS, Linux are the examples of operating system.

4.     What is the use of Utility software?

Ans-Utility software is the software which help you in keeping the computer parts in proper working condition. They also make our computer work fast. Disk cleanup, antivirus software, Backup Utility etc. are the example of Utility software.

5.     What is the use of language processor software?

Ans- A language processor is very important software as it translates or converts a

program written in a computer language into the machine language form so that it

can be understood by a computer. Example-Compiler, interpreter.
